Why I Added Emotion Code to My Practice – A Story I Didn’t See Coming

Where My Curiosity Started

I remember back in 2016, during a particularly challenging chapter after coming back home early from my time abroad in the UAE, I was introduced to the book The Body Keeps the Score. I was enthralled reading the ways in which the body reacted to unprocessed trauma and emotional “baggage”. The concepts really resonated and helped me feel seen. This was the first time I heard about the body holding on to past negative experiences or trauma – something which I had suspected but never had confirmation like this before.

Fast forward to 2022, a debilitating concussion sent my system into crisis mode that would not shut off. My body was constantly on guard, tense, and on high alert. It really is brain trauma not just in the physical sense – but your brain is actually stuck in this fight or flight state, which I know was a big reason why my physical symptoms continued for so long. Therapies such as cranial-sacral therapy and even more so Reiki were what finally allowed my brain to heal and start to feel safe again.

As I delved deeper into energy healing and trained intensely to become a Siam Reiki Master, I came across the Emotion Code energy healing modality, on social media of all places. What initially drew me to this modality was that it a) is energy healing b) directly focuses on “trapped emotions” in the body from past experiences and c) uses a technique called subconscious muscle testing – a form of assessment I’ve known about for over a decade. My absolutely incredible naturopath uses this as a primary method in communicating with her patients’ subconscious to find all sorts of imbalances in the body – and man is she good at what she does!!!

The Piece That Named What I Was Already Sensing

I continued to follow a couple of Emotion Code practitioners online and would watch with curiosity and fascination. These practitioners would work with the subconscious minds of themselves and others to quickly and effectively release multiple trapped emotions while finding specific details about these emotions only if needed for processing. It was like taking a laser and aiming it right on these trapped emotional energies ready to be released with immense precision.

Then one day I attended a day retreat as a practitioner providing mini Reiki and reflexology treatments to participants. We were invited to take a break throughout the day and attend any of the workshops available. My eyes widened when I noticed that there was a real live Emotion Code practitioner hosting a workshop at the retreat that day! Since I had never seen an Emotion Code practitioner “in the wild”, you bet that’s exactly when I scheduled my break!

The workshop was more eye opening than I ever expected. As a fairly new Reiki master, my intuition was growing rapidly – it was as if a champagne bottle had just been opened with a big “pop”! Between this and my experience at my first Emotion Code workshop, I knew I wanted to become a practitioner. I knew I could use my intuition to help guide sessions while connecting with the subconscious mind to release emotions that were ready to be let go.

So what happened during that workshop that got me “hooked”? Well, first of all, it was incredibly fascinating to see the Emotion Code working in person in real time, connecting back to a consciously known event in someone’s life that would have caused emotional pain and baggage to be stored. Down to the year with accuracy. But something else happened – inherited emotions came up. Around this time I was being more drawn to ancestral work in my Reiki practice as well, and what I sensed amazed me. As inherited emotions were being cleared from one of the participants (and then again with me!) I could actually feel these ancestral energies receiving the healing. I noticed the energy change as emotions were released, and I was also able to use Reiki to assist in the healing even further. I realized that in learning this modality, I could identify a specific emotion and clear it, not just for the person in front of me, but from the whole bloodline it came from. It felt like discovering something meeting me where I was already headed. I was hooked from that moment on.

What Emotion Code Actually Is, in Plain Terms

Most of the emotions we carry are simply from our own moments that were too much to process at the time, feelings we pushed aside because there wasn’t space for them, things that mattered more than we realized when they happened. If not able to be processed, they don’t just fade once the moment passes. Their energy settles somewhere in the body and stays there long after we’ve consciously moved on, often causing issues long after they first arrived.

Emotion Code works directly with the subconscious mind – the part of us that remembers everything the conscious mind has long since filed away – in order to find these emotions, one at a time, and release them.

And sometimes, as I experienced in that workshop, what it finds isn’t even from our own life at all. Some emotions are absorbed or inherited, carried forward through a bloodline the way certain traits are, without us ever choosing them or knowing they were there. Without us realizing how these emotions may impact us or our loved ones today.

The Moment It Clicked for Me

During my practitioner training there were two moments where I knew this was the real deal and something that would add so much value to the clients I support.

The first was a practice client who had been through a loss six months prior to our session. After reflecting, they realized that it was around that time their lower back pain had begun. They had tried multiple physical therapies, exercises, stretches, you name it – nothing helped. After two Emotion Code sessions, their pain went from an 8/10 down to a zero! I checked in weeks later and it was still gone.

Then, after completing a few sessions to clear a practice client’s heartwall (think: trapped emotions that make a protective wall around the heart center), they reported being able to connect with their partner in ways that seemed to not be possible for them before, even after 2 years of couple’s counselling. In fact, after their next couple’s counselling session, their therapist said that there had been such remarkable growth in this short period of time that they might consider monthly sessions now instead of biweekly! I couldn’t believe the difference this had made for this couple – all from a few Emotion Code sessions!

Since then there have been countless instances where I see this modality working its magic – digestion issues resolved, people feeling overall happier and lighter in their day to day lives, being able to finally trust fully, hip pain gone, knee pain gone, phobia disappeared. We can never make guarantees with this work, but the positive outcomes are most often noticeable in some way shape or form – sometimes not realized until weeks after the sessions are done.

Why I Wanted to Bring This to ATW

Along the Way Wellness has always been about having enough tools that no one leaves without something that actually meets them where they’re at.

Watching a practice client’s chronic back pain resolve after nothing else had worked. Watching two years of stalled progress in couple’s counselling shift in a matter of weeks. I couldn’t unsee what this modality was capable of reaching.

Adding Emotion Code is another expression of the same belief: that healing rarely comes from one direction, and that sometimes the most specific tool is exactly what someone needs to finally move something that’s been stuck for a long time.

Feel It or See It For Yourself

If you’ve ever wondered whether something you’re carrying might not even be fully yours, or you’ve tried everything for something that won’t budge, I’d love for you to feel this for yourself rather than just read about it.

I host free Emotion Code Workshops where you can ask questions, learn more, and experience a taste of this work firsthand. Click below to see when my next free Emotion Code workshop will be. Hope to see you there!
